With it's miles of coastline along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, Florida is home to many bases of our Armed Forces. These include, Army, Air Force, Marine, Navy, and Coast Guard. These include Eglin Air Force Base, MacDill Air Force Base, and Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
Fort Walton Beach, Fla., in Oskaloosa County, is a thriving community with a population of about 22,000. Eglin Air Force Base is located north of Fort Walton Beach in Oskaloosa County and employs more than 8,500 military personnel and 4,500 civilians. MacDill Air Force Base is located on the Interbay Penninsula near Tampa, Florida. There are over 12,000 active duty military personnel working on the base with close to 12,400 family members nearby. It is a 19 minute commute from Tampa with median home prices being $140,900.
Jacksonville is Florida's largest city with a population of more than 805,500. It is a popular place for military families to reside, as Naval Air Station Jacksonville is located within the city and employs 23,000 civilian and active-duty personnel.
