Campe Lejeune, just a little over a 14 minute commute from Jacksonville, is home to over 44,000 active duty marines. There are over 38,000 family members at Camp Lejeune. The base has three elementary schools, one primary school, one intermediate school, one middle school and one high school.
Located near Fayetteville are Pope Air Force Base and Fort Bragg. By September of 2011 Pope Air Force Base is realigning under Fort Bragg. The Fayetteville metro area has a population of 356,105 residents. Fort Bragg is home to over 47,000 active duty soldiers. There is an 18 minute commute from Fayetteville to Fort Bragg.
Havelock, North Carolina is home to the largest Marine Corps Air Station on the East Coast. Marine Corps Air station, Cherry Point is where the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing resides and calls home. Havelock has an estimated population of 21,906 according to the 2006 census.
